What do you improve a stellar veteran team that have secured back-to-back championships, featuring a league-cup double boasting thirty victories from 32 matches?

A Greater Manchester team boasts an non-professional vets squad with nine ex- top-flight players in their present lineup.

Two Hundred Twenty-Two Top Division Scores, Three Hundred Twenty-Five Global Appearances

The team Veterans Over-35s are located in southern Manchester and play in the Cheshire-based Vets League Premier Tier.

Their lineup this season boasts nine ex- Premier League footballers, with a collective nearly 1,800 elite appearances.

The star-studded squad also contains over 220 top division scores and 325 global appearances.

The squad feature Papiss Cisse, who netted 37 goals in 117 appearances for Newcastle United after joining them for nine million pounds from Bundesliga side SC Freiburg in January 2012.

He had his first appearance for the team in their most recent home-field game against reigning champions their rivals and scored all six goals in a six-two victory - including a half-hour opening period triple.

Wythenshawe's squad for this season also features former pros such as English and Anfield striker Emile Heskey, Hull and Burnley midfielder George Boyd, Toffees forward Oumar Niasse, Wigan defender Maynor Figueroa, City duo Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha and top-flight title winners Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater.

Collectively, the ex- Premier League players have claimed 15 significant honors and transferred for combined transfer sums of about £123 million.

Ireland began turning out for the team during pre-season this summer through good friend and present Wythenshawe player Blake Norton, and the former Irish player then asked additional former professionals, who all play in a midweek nine-a-side game, to participate.

Ex- Senegalese striker Niasse, who scored 12 goals in 65 top-flight matches for Everton and still goes to their matches at Goodison Park, also had his first appearance against the opposition - who are based in Liverpool and use an Blue training kit as their strip.

"That's a bit unusual but then, I love sprinting and just go forward - I'm not staying back that much," he added.

"I tell my centre-back 'I'm not staying' and that I'm just going to continue running.

"That movement is what I'm after. It's enjoyable."

Along with the forward's 6 goals on his first game, Ireland has netted eight in three appearances for Wythenshawe, while George Boyd hit 5 on his first match and Joleon Lescott, a centre-half by position, notched a hat-trick in one game up front.

The team are top of the Premier Division with 3 wins from 3 and a goal difference of +19.

Paul Barrow, 38, who features on the wing for the opposition, came up against former Wigan full-back Figueroa on Sunday - and had to tell his nine-year-old boy who Emile Heskey was.

He has played at two global tournaments for his country, in as well as playing in over 200 top-flight games.

"The news was going round like a rumor they had all these ex-Premier League stars," said Barrow.

"I felt I was a little awestruck facing Figueroa to be honest.

"Even Emile [Heskey] got on and he's has over 60 England caps.

"Our side held our own for a solid twenty mins but then we had a man dismissed and it was tough.

"We literally have not stopped talking about it - I was calling my mum and sibling on the journey home.

"The opponents were all dead sound, shaking our hands after the game - it was like facing a group of normal guys.

"Now we are eager for the return fixture."
