Much like Storm Claudia tore through the northern region the prior day, the home side overwhelmed United aside at the their home ground. It was a convincing three-nil victory for the City coach's side thanks to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a display that truly announced their leadership claims as they reinforced their standing at the league summit.

Consecutive Defeats for United

This scoreline represented successive league defeats for Skinner's side for the maiden instance since last May, putting them seven points off the table toppers with their championship aspirations severely dented.

United’s capability to juggle domestic and European soccer with a thin roster has been a widely debated subject since they qualified for the Champions League. Reviewing the calendar, it always appeared this was the week that would fully examine this ability. Regrettably for the visitors, they looked weary throughout, the memorable win against PSG clearly having left its mark.

Tactical Shifts
